Tired of all the federal insurance policies only targeting the row crop farmers?
Looking for a crop insurance designed just for you?
Look no further than PRF.
Pasture, Rangeland and Forage (PRF) insurance is new, federally-subsidized program. It is designed specifically for farmers and ranchers who use pasture, rangeland or forage acres for grazing livestock or growing hay.
PRF uses long-term historical data to determine how much rain a certain area of your farm “should” receive in any given two-month time period. At least four local weather reporting stations near each area of land report actual rainfall data daily. If any portion of an area receives less rain than it “should” within a covered two-month time frame, a possible loss payment is automatically triggered — You don’t have to submit a claim or notify your agent.
